After a rocky start, the Australian cricket team has surged up the points table in the 2023 World Cup. Thanks to two significant victories, they now find themselves securely within the top 4 teams contending for the championship.

In the 18th match of the tournament, Australia showcased their prowess, led by skipper Pat Cummins. Their star batsmen, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh, both played exceptional innings, each notching up a century. Additionally, their spinner, Adam Zampa, delivered a remarkable performance, securing a 4-wicket haul. This collective effort culminated in a resounding 62-run victory over Pakistan, a team with its fair share of accolades.

With this win, Australia managed to leapfrog from their previous 6th position in the points table to the 4th spot. In contrast, Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, faced their second consecutive loss, causing them to slip to 5th place.

Australia's current record boasts 4 points from 2 wins out of 4 matches played, alongside a net run rate of -0.193. On the other hand, Pakistan also has 4 points, yet their net run rate stands at -0.456.

Taking a look at the top 3 teams on the points table, New Zealand continues to assert their dominance by securing the top spot with a perfect record of 4 wins in as many matches. Their net run rate is a staggering +1.923, further solidifying their position as one of the tournament favorites.

Team India closely trails New Zealand, sharing the same number of wins. However, they are just one point behind due to a slight difference in their net run rate. Rohit Sharma's squad occupies the second position with 8 points and a notable net run rate of 1.659.

South Africa follows closely behind, securing the third position with 4 points.
