According to a report in the Guardian, with the rising popularity of T20 cricket, Disney Star envisions a transition from the traditional 50-over format to the shorter and more dynamic T20 version. While this suggestion has garnered attention, it faces some challenges, as the qualification process for a T20 tournament cannot be solely based on a One-Day International (ODI) event like the ongoing ODI World Cup in 2023.

The cricketing world is experiencing a growing demand for the T20 format, which boasts a larger and more engaged fan base. This trend could mark a significant turning point for ODI cricket, with the 2024 T20 World Cup in the United States and the Caribbean set to showcase the appeal of the shortest white-ball format.
