<p>All the matches of the inaugural WPL were played between March 4 and 26 earlier this year at the DY Patil Stadium and the Brabourne Stadium.</p>
<p>&ldquo;The final decision (about venues) might come on December 9 (the day of the WPL auction) but it is highly likely that this year it (WPL) will follow the multi-city format with Mumbai and Bengaluru being the front-runners at this moment,&rdquo; a BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.</p>
<p>&ldquo;The WPL was received well by the fans in the opening year, and it is the right time to take it to different cities. Bengaluru always has a good audience for women&rsquo;s cricket, and it has now grown because of the RCB women&rsquo;s team.&rdquo; Mumbai and Karnataka cricket association officials too expressed readiness to host the matches, if indeed they come their way.</p>
<p>Royal Challengers Bangalore women&rsquo;s team captain Smriti Mandhana too had backed the multi-city format for the WPL.</p>
<p>&ldquo;It would be great to have WPL in a multi-city format. That might be the next step and I am sure people right here would look into it and make it happen. As an RCB fan, I would love to play in Chinnaswamy where people are chanting &lsquo;RCB, RCB&rsquo; and just to be in that environment,&rdquo; Mandhana had said during the recent RCB Innovation Lab&rsquo;s Leaders Meet India.</p>
<p>&ldquo;That is something which is one step ahead for us that it (multi-city format) can reach to places where women&rsquo;s cricket hasn&rsquo;t reached and to get a new audience going into women&rsquo;s cricket,&rdquo; Mandhana added.</p>

<p>Luis Rubiales, the ex-president of the Spanish Football Federation, is now embroiled in another controversy following allegations of inappropriate behavior during the Women&rsquo;s World Cup trophy ceremony.</p>
<p>Rubiales, who was accused of forcibly kissing Spanish player Jenni Hermoso without consent earlier, has now been accused of engaging in unwanted physical contact with two England players. The incident occurred after Spain's 1-0 victory over England in the final on August 20, with footage showing Rubiales kissing Hermoso on the lips.</p>
<p>The new allegations surfaced in a FIFA disciplinary committee report, where Debbie Hewitt, chair of the English Football Association, described witnessing Rubiales's actions. Hewitt recalled Rubiales "cupping and stroking" England's Laura Coombs' face, which she found "slightly odd," followed by him forcefully kissing Lucy Bronze on the face.</p>
<p>Rubiales refuted these claims, criticizing Hewitt for "hypocrisy," as she too embraced players during the ceremony. He condemned Hewitt's portrayal of him as "some sort of creep" as "absolutely disgusting."</p>

<p>On the deadline day for player retention, Gujarat Titans first declared that Hardik Pandya will stay, but later Indian all-round player was traded to the Mumbai Indians for cash.</p>
<p><strong>Gujarat Titans COO reveals 'wrong approach'</strong></p>
<p>As per reports, it appears that more players than just Hardik Pandya were courted to leave the Titans. Arvinder Singh, the COO of the Gujarat Titans, claims that a team also contacted star pacer Mohammed Shami to join them for the next year's IPL.</p>
<p>He claimed that, in violation of IPL and BCCI protocol, a different team made direct contact with Mohammed Shami regarding a transfer. The GT COO charged another franchise with using unfair business practices in an interview with News18.</p>
<p>"It's wrong to contact players directly for an IPL trade," he said. &ldquo;Teams ought to adhere to the guidelines established by the BCCI and IPL,&rdquo; he added.</p>
<p><strong>Shubman Gill named skipper of Gujarat Titans</strong></p>
<p>Once Hardik Pandya Pandya's exit was sure, GT team management was looking for their new skipper and 24-year-old opener Shubman Gill became an obvious captaincy choice, having got the coveted 'orange cap' in the last season with 890 runs, second to only Virat Kohli's all-time record of 973.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Having collaborated closely with Gill, Solanki attested to his maturity.</p>
<p>"Over the past two years, Shubman Gill has demonstrated growth in stature and status at the highest level of the game. In cricket, we've watched him develop as a leader as well as a hitter," Solanki said.</p>
