Hero Asia Cup Set to Begin With Thrilling Matches Awaited

Rajgir, Bihar: On August 27, the Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh men's hockey teams arrived to complete the roster for the upcoming Hero Asia Cup. The tournament kicks off this Friday, and with three-time champions India and reigning titleholders South Korea among the front-runners, the competition promises to be fierce. Following the withdrawal of Pakistan and Oman, Bangladesh and Kazakhstan have taken their places.

Ranked 38th globally, Chinese Taipei is making its second appearance in the tournament, having debuted in 2013. Drawn in Pool B alongside Korea, Bangladesh, and Malaysia, they will face Korea on Friday before clashing with Bangladesh on Saturday and meeting Malaysia on September 1.

Chinese Taipei captain Chun-Yu Chang expressed the thrill of playing in India, a nation passionate about hockey. "Our goal is to relish each match in this prestigious tournament and deliver our utmost on the field," he stated. In their 2013 debut, Chinese Taipei ended last in their group after losing all three pool matches. Chun-Yu Chang emphasized the pride in representing their country during this opportunity to learn, face challenges, and display their team's fighting spirit.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh, ranked 29th, remains a staple in the Asia Cup, having participated in every edition since its inception in 1982. Stepping in for Pakistan this year, Bangladesh will commence their Pool B campaign against Malaysia on Friday.
