Head Coach Rahul Dravid and support staff contracts extended by BCCI

Rahul Dravid will continue as the head coach of Team India.
The BCCI announced on Wednesday that they were extending the contracts for Team India head coach and the support staff.

The board had offered an extension to Dravid and the former India skipper finally accepted it. 'The BCCI engaged in productive discussions with Mr. Rahul Dravid after the term of his contract ended following the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and unanimously agreed to further the tenure,' read an official statement by the BCCI.

One crucial reason the BCCI was keen on sticking with Dravid was to ensure continuity to the structure he had put in place over the past two years, which might have otherwise got disrupted had a new head coach been appointed.

Dravid's first assignment in his second stint will be India's tour of South Africa. The tour starts with 3 T20Is and as many ODIs, followed by a 2-match Test series.

'The Board acknowledges Mr. Dravid's instrumental role in moulding the Indian Team and commends his exceptional professionalism. The Board also appreciates Mr. VVS Laxman for his exemplary roles as Head of NCA and as the stand-in Head Coach. Similar to their legendary on-field partnerships, Mr. Dravid and Mr. Laxman have worked closely in driving Indian Cricket forward,' the statement added.
