What a story! Footballer Anwar Ali with rare heart condition fights his way into FC Goa team

Nearly 3 years after he was asked to stop playing football after being diagnosed with rare heart disease, Anwar Ali returned to doing what he loves. The 21-year-old made his way into the Indian Super League as he was signed by FC Goa.

The road to the field was a tough one. But after undergoing multiple scans, consulting doctors from India and abroad, pleading before various committees, moving the court and submitting an affidavit claiming full responsibility if something were to happen to him on the field, Anwar Ali has been granted permission to play.

Ali was signed by ISL side Mumbai City in 2018 but his dreams came crashing down during a medical examination in the following year when he was diagnosed with a heart problem. AIFF had then restricted him from competitive sports activity as it posed a serious risk to his life.
