UEFA forced to drop legal action against Real Madrid, Barcelona over Super League

European football's governing body UEFA has been forced to abandon its plan to ban Super League clubs Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid from the Champions League. The plan was to ban the clubs that were initially part of the rebellion that led to the formation of the Super League which collapsed in less than 3 days after it was proposed by the clubs. An injunction by a Spanish court had earlier paused the disciplinary case hearing against the clubs who had refused to renounce the project. There was a renewed demand last week from a Madrid based Judge for the UEFA officials to comply with the ruling & not to sanction the clubs which led to the case being officially scrapped on Monday night.

The Super League was a breakaway tournament that was planned with the top European clubs but collapsed within 3 days of its official launch due to fans pressure & various other reasons. UEFA was determined to teach the clubs a lesson but ended up failing as the top teams guarded their legal interests with ease in courts across Europe.
