UCL 2021-22: Bayern knock Barcelona out; Chelsea advance to next round with 2nd place finish

Spanish club Barcelona hit a new low on Thursday after facing a 3-0 drubbing from Bayern Munich. The heavy and humiliating defeat meant that Barca would not make it to the knockout stages of the Champions League after 18 years.

Barca will now compete in Europa League after finishing third in Group E and that too after Benfica’s 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv in the other game.

In the Group H match, Russian club Zenit held Chelsea to a 3-3 draw through a stoppage-time goal. The draw meant that the defending champions would advance to the knockout round behind Juventus as second-placed team.

Meanwhile, a depleted Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw against Swiss club Young Boys in Group F match.

Manager Ralf Rangnick gave the opportunity to the United's fringe senior players and youngsters as the English club had already qualified for the knockouts.

Mason Greenwood scored the only goal for United to which Young Boys replied in the 43rd minute as the 2nd half saw no goals.
