Turkey earthquake: Where is Christian Atsu? Agent claims whereabouts unknown

Footballer Christian Atsu's agent, Nana Sechere, has denied reports stating that the Ghanaian footballer had been rescued from under the rubble in Turkey.

While Atsu's club Hatayspor had earlier released a statement claiming the player had been taken to the hospital, his agent Sechere wrote on Twitter that they are yet to confirm Atsu's whereabouts.

Ghana's ambassador to Turkey had also confirmed to an Accra-based radio station on February 7 that Atsu had been found.

However, Hatayspor manager Volkan Demirel told Turkish website Spor Arena there was 'no news' on either Atsu or sporting director Taner Savut, who were both reported missing on Monday.

More than 11,000 people have died in the Turkey-Syria earthquake, with the number rising every hour. Turkish second-division club Yeni Malatyaspor had earlier announced that their goalkeeper Ahmet Eyup Turkaslan had died as a result of the earthquake.
