Eriksen has not played since suffering a cardiac arrest in Denmark's opening match of the European Championship against Finland in June and has been training with his former club Ajax Amsterdam to build up his fitness.

Liverpool’s late push to sign Fabio Carvalho from Fulham ended in failure despite being willing to pay up to £8.4m for the highly-rated teenager. After Liverpool's opening offer of £5m was rejected, an agreement was finally reached but Liverpool ran out of time to conclude the transfer. Liverpool was prepared to hand a five-year contract to the 19-year-old Portugal-born winger.
