Sweden players were forced to 'show their genitalia' during 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup

In a shocking revelation by Sweden footballer Nilla Fischer, the centre-back has alleged that the national team players had to 'show their genitalia to the doctor' in order to prove that they are women during the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup.

In Fischer's new book 'I Didn’t Even Say Half Of It', the Swedish international described the whole process which was carried out by a female physiotherapist on behalf of the doctor as 'humiliating'.

Fischer wrote, "We were told that we should not shave ‘down there’ in the coming days and that we will have to show our genitalia to the doctor."

The gender tests had to be carried out during the tournament in Germany after protests from Nigeria, South Africa, and Ghana surfaced relating to allegations that the Equatorial Guinea women's team included men.
