Premier League: Manchester City go top, Chelsea thrashed and Liverpool hit rock bottom

Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League points table after Pep Guardiola's men defeated Leicester City on Saturday.

It was the first time City was without their star striker Erling Haaland in this season of the Premier League.

But his absence didn't hurt the Citizens as Kevin de Bruyne rose to the occasion and converted a free-kick in the second half to hand Citizens a 1-0 win over Leicester.

Chelsea vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Meanwhile, Chelsea's manager Graham Potter had a forgettable return to the south coast as Brighton trounced the Blues 4-1.

It was Potter's first defeat since leaving the south-coast club to take over Chelsea in September.

The miserable night for the Blues can be easily summarised by the scoreline with Brighton being 2-0 up in the first 14 minutes of the first half and 3-0 up by half-time.

Kai Havertz, though, reduced the deficit by one goal at the start of the second half. However, a stoppage-time goal by Pascal Gross ensured a comprehensive win for Brighton

Liverpool vs Leeds United

Liverpool had an unforgettable night at Anfield as they faced a 1-2 defeat by the relegation-threatened club Leeds United on Saturday.

The Reds conceded a goal in the 4th minute but Mo Salah equalised 10 minutes later.

However, Jurgen Klopp's men failed to break the deadlock despite having 22 shots on target.

Leeds, which started the day at the 19th spot, sealed the game with Summerville's goal in the 89th minute. Thus ending Liverpool's proud unbeaten Premier League record at Anfield, which stretched back to 29 games and 19 months.

Tottenham Hotspur vs AFC Bournemouth

Tottenham returned to winning ways after they defeated Bournemouth 3-2 on Saturday. With the win, Spurs ended their two-match losing streak in the Premier League and moved to the third spot on the table.

Aston Villa vs Newcastle United

Newcastle United consolidated their position at the fourth spot on the Premier League table with a 4-0 win over Aston Villa. This was Newcastle's fifth win in their last six matches and now they are just two points behind third-placed Tottenham and three points ahead of Chelsea on the Premier League leaderboard.
