Newcastle United who haven't won a single major trophy since 1955 have got new owners. A Saudi Arabian-backed £305 million takeover of the Magpies has ended Mike Ashley's 14-year long ownership. Newcastle that was apparently a relegation zone dweller has now become one of the richest clubs in the world. With this huge cash-landing at St James' Park, Newcastle United that was formed in 1892 would now await a brand new dawn. In the past as well, there have been surprising turnarounds for different clubs after a change in ownership.

Paris Saint Germain, recently in news for bringing in football favorite Lionel Messi into its camp, is one of those teams that would top the list of makeovers after an ownership change. When in 2011, Qatar Sports Investments took over PSG, the French underachievers had only won 2 French league titles. In close to 10 years of their ownership, the Parisians have become the undisputed rulers of Ligue 1. They have won 7 out of 9 league titles. However, they are yet to win a Champions League title.

Next up is Chelsea. A whole new generation of talent emerged after Roman Abramovich took over Chelsea as the owner in 2003 for £140 million. Before the acquisition, City were under the shadow of Manchester United and Liverpool, generally ending mid-table. Things changed drastically after their coffers were filled with Emirates' money. Since 2008, Citizens have bagged 5 Premier league titles, 2 FA Cups and 6 League Cups.
