For the first time in football history, England have reached back-to-back finals at the European Championships. The Three Lions achieved the feat with yet another comeback, this time over the Netherlands in Dortmund.
Since lifting the 1966 World Cup on home soil, their only triumph at international level, England have never come this close to glory until this decade. For over 50 years, despite boasting a plethora of world-beating talents, the England men's football team have always come up short...

But two major final appearances in three years certainly brings forth the question: Is Gareth Southgate the greatest manager England have ever had?

What do the numbers say? He's only the third man to have managed England for over 100 matches and has the best win percentage among those who have been in charge for over 50 matches. Before Southgate's appointment in October 2016, England had won only eight knockout stage matches, excluding the famous 1966 final. But since the former defender took charge, they have won nine and are the only European team to reach the quarterfinals of four consecutive major tournaments.

The style of football and his team selection has been under constant criticism. But no one can dispute the results that he has brought about and the change in fortunes... That brings us to the final question... Is it finally coming home for England? Only time will tell!
