French Football President Le Graet resigns amid sexual harassment investigation

Noel Le Graet has stepped down as boss of the French Football Federation (FFF), following calls for his resignation amid an investigation into alleged sexual and moral harassment.

The FFF had already suspended the 81-year-old in January as part of the investigation at the governing body.

Earlier this month, the French General Inspectorate of Education, Sport and Research said Le Graet should not return to his role because his "behavioural excesses are incompatible with the exercise of his functions".

Le Graet had been in charge of the FFF since 2011 but was facing increasing pressure to move aside following remarks he made in December about Zinedine Zidane's interest in coaching the French men's team.

Those remarks triggered a backlash from politicians, commentators, and current and former players, including Kylian Mbappe, who said Le Graet's comments showed his "disrespect for the legend" Zidane.
