FIFA World Cup 2022, NED vs USA: Netherlands into the last 8 after a comfortable 3-1 win against USA

The Netherlands becomes the first team to go through to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 after a comfortable 3-1 victory against the USA at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar, on Saturday.

First-half goals from Memphis Depay and Daley Blind made sure that the Oranje were going further into the business end of the tournament. Two brilliant team goals removed any doubts that were hovering around the team's attacking potential and gave the Dutch side a ticket to the last 8 as well.

The American side played catch-up all night long and were able to get a goal in the 76th minute through Haji Wright in their pursuit of leveling the score. However, the 2-goal lead was restored by Dumfries within the next 5 minutes to wrap up the win for the Oranje.

The Netherlands will face the winner of the last 16 encounter between heavyweights Argentina and the Socceroos in their quarter-final tie.
