If this is the sign of things to come from the 2010 champions, then the young Spanish team can certainly be put on the favourites list for the tournament.

FIFA World Cup 2022 ESP vs CRC: Spain cruise to a 7-0 victory against Costa Rica

It was a case of total domination by Spain who cruised to a comfortable 7-0 victory against Costa Rica in their Group E encounter at the Al Thumama Stadium in Qatar, on Wednesday.

A 7-star performance by La Furia Roja who looked in prime form from the get-go and became the first team in this year's World Cup to score three goals in the first half courtesy of scorers Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres, and Marco Asensio.

The Spanish side had 85% of ball possession at the end of the first half and carried on in the exact same way in the 2nd half of the game. Such was the dominance from Spain that they did not allow Costa Rica a single shot on target in the whole game.

Ferran Torres added his second of the night in the 54th minute which was followed by a goal for the youngest player in the World Cup, Gavi who made his 74th-minute finish look effortless. He is also now the youngest goal scorer for Spain in the FIFA World Cup.

Substitutes Carlos Soler and Alvaro Morata then went on to wrap up the win for Spain with a 6th and 7th goal in the 90th and 92nd minute respectively.

If this is the sign of things to come from the 2010 champions, then the young Spanish team can certainly be put on the favourites list for the tournament.
