The Premier League has charged the defending champions with more than 100 alleged breaches of financial regulations.

Manchester City have released a statement after the <a href="https://www.editorji.com/sports-news/football/manchester-city-charged-by-premier-league-for-numerous-breaches-of-financial-rules-1675681417349">Premier League charged them with more than 100 breaches</a> of its financial rules following an investigation that lasted 4 years.
If found guilty, the punishment can range from afine and points deduction to expulsion from the Premier League.
City said they were 'surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with.'
The club further stated that they 'welcome the review of this matter by an independent commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.'

While City are expected to contest the decision, possible sanctions include points deductions if breaches are proved.

The English Premier League has charged reigning champions Manchester City with more than 100 breaches of financial regulations following a four-year investigation.
City, who won the EPL title 6 times in the last 11 years, are accused of hiding accurate financial reports.
In 2020, City had a 2-year ban from European competitions overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport after UEFA ruled that City committed "serious breaches" of Financial Fair Play regulations between 2012 and 2016.
The Premier League issued a statement, claiming City breached rules requiring them to provide "accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club's financial position".
While City are expected to contest the charges, possible sanctions include points deductions if breaches are proved.

The game started off with the Netherlands leading the charge as Cody Gakpo put his side ahead in just the 6th minute, which is the quickest goal so far in Qatar.
However, Valencia equalised soon after first half, which was his record sixth successive goal and 3rd of this World Cup. However, his night soon turned dark as the former West Ham and Everton striker went down in the final minute and was taken off on a stretcher.
Group A is wide open with Ecuador at the 2nd spot with with 4 points, while the Dutch take the top spot with as many points but a better goal difference.
