FIFA World Cup 2022, CRO vs CAN: Croatia beat Canada 4-1 to register first win of the tournament

2018 Runners-up Croatia registered their first win of the FIFA World Cup 2022 as they beat Canada 4-1 at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar, on Sunday.

The Kockasti started the game on the wrong foot after Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies scored the fastest goal of the tournament so far in the 2nd minute and put his team ahead early on in the game. However, Croatia took charge of the proceedings since then as striker Andrej Kramaric scored the leveler in the 36th minute after he had a goal disallowed earlier in the half.

The European side's persistent efforts saw them come back from behind and take the lead in the 44th minute courtesy of a Marko Livaja strike to end the first half in the best way possible.

The Croatians were in no hurry in the second half and after passing the ball around for the majority of the half, they went on to score another 2 goals as Kramaric's second goal of the night was followed by a late fourth, scored by substitute Lovro Majer to finish things in style for the Kockasti.

The victory meant that Canada were eliminated from the group stages after losing their first 2 games while Croatia will head into their final game against Belgium knowing that avoiding a defeat will send them into the last 16 of the tournament.
