FIFA Women's World Cup: 2-time champions Germany knocked out as Morocco clinch second spot in Group H

Two-time Champions Germany crashed out of the Women's World Cup group stages after they were held to a 1-1 draw by South Korea. The unexpected outcome marked the first time in Germany's history that they failed to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.

Having entered the competition as one of the pre-tournament favorites, Germany found themselves in a must-win situation in Group H, needing a better result than Morocco's match against Colombia. Unfortunately for Germany, the Morocco-Colombia match concluded in a 1-0 victory for Morocco, dashing their hopes of progressing as group runners-up.

At the halfway stage, Germany were heading through but Morocco, in the other group match, scored a crucial goal minutes after halftime in Perth. It meant that Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's side needed a victory to secure their place in the knockout rounds.

The second half saw Germany relentlessly attacking the South Korean half, sending numerous crosses into their box. However, they were unable to break through, leading to a heart-wrenching full-time scene with Germany's players falling to the ground in disappointment and tears.
