Diego Maradona's 'Hand of God' football expected to fetch £2.5-3 million

Diego Maradona’s famous ‘Hand of God’ football is to go on auction on November 16 as part of a special World Cup event.

The match ball that was used in the 1986 World Cup quarterfinal between Argentina & England is expected to fetch a huge price.

It’s the ball that was used by Argentine legend Maradona to score two of the most famous goals in football history and it is being sold by Ali Bin Nasser, the Tunisian referee who officiated the match in Mexico.

Argentina’s 2-1 victory that day remains one of the most controversial contests in history. The first goal by Maradona was a handball which the referee Bin Nasser failed to spot, while the second was deemed ‘Goal of the century’.

The match ball that’s being auctioned was used for the full duration of the game, precisely why its estimated price is a whopping £2.5-3m.
