Arch-rivals Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal renewed their rivalry as they took on each other in the Super Cup to seal the semifinal spot. It was a Group A fixture of the Kalinga Super Cup and was played at the Kalinga Stadium Main Pitch in Bhubaneshwar.

Hector Yuste from Mohun Bagan SG scored the opening goal of the game in the 19th minute of the match as he netted the ball with a flick. But East Bengal came back strongly and equaled the score in the 24th minute as Cleiton Silva took a rocket of a shot out of nowhere to rattle the net.
