CBI investigates match-fixing in Indian football

Indian football is once again under a match-fixing scanner as CBI has been investigating a possible huge investment from a notorious international fixer into five clubs of the I-League.

According to a Times of India report, CBI is investigating claims that Singapore-based match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal has invested in Indian clubs through shell companies.

Meanwhile, reacting to the possible match-fixing scandal, AIFF secretary general Shaji Prabhakaran said that the Indian football governing body has written to the clubs asking them to cooperate with the investigation.

Wilson Raj Perumal has rigged games at all levels, including the Olympics, World Cup qualifiers, women's world Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup and African Cup of Nations,

He was jailed for match-fixing in Singapore in 1995 and convicted in Finland and Hungary.
