Arsenal-Man City play out goalless draw; Liverpool stay top after beating Brighton

Title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal played out a 0-0 draw at the Etihad in a high-octane encounter but short of clear-cut chances that left Liverpool two points clear at the top of the Premier League.

In a game of few chances at Etihad Stadium, defending champions City came closest to finding a winner when Nathan Ake headed straight at goalkeeper David Raya from a corner.

Arsenal’s best opportunities came from former City striker Gabriel Jesus, who twice fired wide in the first half and was close to connecting from close range after the break.

The goalless draw ended City's run of scoring in their last 57 home games.

Arsenal has now had the better of both of its title rivals, having also won and drawn against Liverpool.

By contrast, City has no league wins against any of the teams above it, having drawn against Liverpool home and away.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day Mohamed Salah fired Liverpool to a comeback 2-1 win against Brighton in the Premier League.

Danny Welbeck had stunned the home crowd with an early goal but, Luis Diaz evened the score before halftime. The winner came after Alexis Mac Allister fed Salah inside the box and the Egypt international controlled the ball before slotting home with a side-foot finish.

Luis Diaz evened the score before halftime and Salah secured all three points for Jurgen Klopp's team with his 22nd goal of the season in all competitions.

With just three points separating the top three, it looks to be the most open title race in recent years.
