Drake Bets $300K on Jannik Sinner to Win U.S. Open

New York, Sep 3 (AP) - Drake is placing a significant wager on Jannik Sinner, staking $300,000 on the world's top-ranked men’s tennis player to clinch the U.S. Open title.

The renowned rapper, famous for his substantial and often unsuccessful sports betting, shared a screenshot of his betting slip on social media on Tuesday afternoon. A triumph for Sinner would net Drake $507,000, marking his fifth major championship win and his second at the U.S. Open.

Over recent years, the so-called "Drake Curse" has been attributed to several high-profile betting losses, including a $210,000 loss on American Taylor Fritz to defeat Sinner in the 2024 U.S. Open final. According to a website tracking Drake's disclosed wagers and the infamous curse, he is currently in the red by $115,000 due to tennis bets, despite mitigating his losses by correctly predicting Sinner's victory in the Australian Open final in January.

Currently, Sinner has advanced to the quarterfinals after decisively defeating Alexander Bublik in the fourth round. The 24-year-old will face off against his compatriot, Lorenzo Musetti, and is currently the favorite according to BetMGM Sportsbook.
