Deepti Sharma Shines in India's World Cup Victory

**Agra, Nov 3 (PTI)** - The atmosphere was electric and akin to Diwali night at the residence of seasoned all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who played a pivotal role in securing India’s groundbreaking victory in the women’s World Cup held in Navi Mumbai. Deepti delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a quickfire 58 off as many balls and claiming five wickets for 39 runs, steering India to a 52-run win over South Africa in the thrilling final on Sunday night. Her stellar all-round display earned her the Player of the Tournament award. As the Indian team clinched the final victory in distant Navi Mumbai, Deepti's family members and neighbors congregated at her home to revel in the victory, lighting crackers and sharing sweets. Deepti’s father, Shri Bhagwan Sharma, expressed immense pride as he watched his daughter lift the World Cup trophy. He remarked, "This is a feeling beyond words. We watched the entire match as a family, and now we eagerly await Deepti’s return. Her performance surpassed all our expectations." Deepti’s mother, Sushila Sharma, voiced her pride, stating, "Deepti has honored both our family and the nation. Her brother, Sumit, deserves credit as he introduced her to cricket and nurtured her talent from a young age. Sumit traveled to Mumbai to witness the final and support Deepti. Our entire family and the nation revel in Deepti’s triumph." Meanwhile, in Ayodhya, seers celebrated India’s World Cup win by distributing sweets. On the eve of the final, several temples organized special prayers and hawans seeking victory for the team.
