The debate over the title of cricket's best finisher has often centered on MS Dhoni and AB de Villiers. And the South African batter, popularly known as Mr. 360, settled this age-old discussion during a live Q&A session on his 360 show.

Initially, in a lighthearted manner, AB de Villiers playfully mentioned his name in the mix. However, he swiftly acknowledged MS Dhoni as the ultimate finisher in the sport.

He said, "I would say definitely MS Dhoni. I love watching the guy play. The things he has pulled off in the past. I always think about the 2011 World Cup, hitting that straight six to win the World Cup. That is always engraved in my mind."

De Villiers highlighted Dhoni's versatility in various formats of the game and emphasized that Dhoni's ability to take control of the game or seize victory for his team made him the best finisher. He particularly commended Dhoni's contribution in both the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and in international cricket for India.

"MS has done it so many times in all formats of the game. Even in Test cricket, that’s the guy you want to come in at No. 6 or 7. He keeps things together, or to take the game away from the opposition. He could always play all kinds of innings. And I see there’s always been the big debate between who’s the best finisher, me or him? We can settle that now. I say MS is the best finisher," he added.

He concluded by praising Dhoni as a fantastic person and a great role model for cricket players worldwide.

"I am very happy to give credit where credit is due. For CSK in the T20s in IPL, for India in all formats of the game, just a fantastic person, fantastic man. A great role model for all cricket players around the world, and especially of the kids and the youngsters. Play more like him because he never played all those fancy shots, play like MS, in the V. Once you’ve settled that, then you can move on to the fancy shots," de Villiers concluded.

De Villiers's statement has seemingly settled the long-standing debate, giving MS Dhoni the unequivocal title of cricket's best finisher.
