SRH finished at the bottom of the points table during IPL 2023 and won just 4 games out of 14 matches. They had Aiden Markram as skipper last year and they came to the auction table with the hope of getting a big name who can lead the team in his stead.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad made some aggressive bids at the IPL auction and bought star players like Australian World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins (Rs 20.5 crore) as well as the Player of the Match in the final, Travis Head (Rs 6.8 crore).
