India vs England: Spinners dominate but Ben Stokes-led rearguard takes visitors to 246

India's spin trio had a memorable outing on the first day of the first Test in Hyderabad as England were bowled out for 246.

Having won the toss and opted to bat, the Three Lions started well, putting together a fifty partnership for the opening wicket, with Indian pacers largely unable to trouble the English batters earlier on.

But the moment the spinners came on, the game changed completely. 3 wickets fell in the space of just 5 runs and India got back into the contest in style.

However, a 61-run partnership between Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow stabilised the innings.

But immediately after lunch, Axar Patel bowled a beauty to get rid of Bairstow. Root followed him back to the pavilion soon after, and Ben Foakes and Rehan Ahmed didn't hang around for too long either, with England stuttering to 155/7 from 121/3 at one stage.

However, a terrific rearguard led by captain Ben Stokes, saw the Three Lions climb past the 200-run mark. The last 3 wickets yielded 91 runs, with Stokes top-scoring with an 88-ball 70.

Ashwin and Jadeja, meanwhile, with 6 wickets during the innings, became the most successful Indian bowling pair in Test cricket.
