Brij Bhushan Singh: Former WFI Chief gets regular bail in wrestlers' sexual harassment case

BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been granted bail by the Rouse Avenue court in the sexual harassment case against him.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal of Rouse Avenue Court also granted bail to co-accused Vinod Tomar and directed them not to leave the country without prior intimation and has warned against any direct or indirect threat or inducement to the complainants or witnesses.

"Please ensure that all the conditions are meticulously followed," ACMM Jaspal emphasised.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the court had granted interim bail to Singh and Tomar for two days during the pendency of their regular bail pleas. The judge noted that the chargesheet was filed without arrest, and the accused had been cooperative with the investigation.

APP Atul Srivastava reiterated the need to impose conditions while granting bail, expressing concern about the possibility of influencing witnesses. The court has considered these concerns while granting bail to the accused.

The Delhi Police counsel, however, had earlier stated that they are neither supporting nor opposing the bail plea by the former BJP MP. "We are not out rightly opposing his bail... neither are we supporting it. We leave it to the wisdom of the Court".

Last month, the Delhi Police had filed a chargesheet under Sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 354A (sexually coloured remarks), 354D (stalking) and 506(1) (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code, 1860 against them.

However, a cancellation report was filed in the POCSO case filed by a minor wrestler against Singh.
