Asia Cup 2022: India overcome Hong Kong to finish as group toppers

Team India beat Hong Kong by 40 runs to finish top of Group A and qualify for the Super Four stage.

The Men in Blue may have won but they didn't get to the best of starts with Rohit Sharma departing early and KL Rahul struggling to find boundaries.

Virat Kohli too started off slowly but found his rhythm in the final half of the innings even as Rahul perished for a 39-ball 36.

But with quick runs needed in the final overs, India turned to Suryakumar Yadav who provided the much-needed impetus with a sensational knock.

While Kohli got to his 31st T20I fifty off 40 deliveries, it was Surya who stole the show with an otherworldly innings. His 26-ball 68 ensured India got past the 190-run mark.

In reply, Hong Kong threatened with a good powerplay, scoring 50 runs from the first 6 overs. But wickets at regular intervals kept pegging them back and eventually, they finished 40 runs adrift of India's total.
