Apollo Tyres Takes Over as Indian Cricket Team's New Jersey Sponsor

New Delhi, Sep 16 (PTI) Apollo Tyres has secured the position as the new jersey sponsor for the Indian cricket team, taking over after the exit of online gaming platform Dream11. This information was shared by a senior BCCI official recently.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) faced the challenge of finding a new sponsor after the government banned real money gaming platforms, including Dream11, under fresh legislation. As a result, the Indian team is currently competing in the Asia Cup in Dubai without a title sponsor.

"The deal has been signed with Apollo Tyres. We will announce it soon," said a senior BCCI official. It is understood that this three-year contract is valued at Rs 579 crore, which is significantly higher than the previous Rs 358 crore agreement with Dream11 for the same period. The deal with Apollo Tyres encompasses 121 bilateral matches and 21 ICC games.

Due to the 'Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025', Dream11 had to shut down its real money gaming operations. The act clearly states that "no person shall offer any, aid, abet, induce, indulge, engage in offering online money gaming services nor shall involve in any advertisement which directly or indirectly promotes any person to play any online money game."

Earlier this month, the BCCI issued an invitation for expressions of interest for the team's lead sponsor rights, confirming that there would be no shirt sponsor for the ongoing Asia Cup. The Board also made it clear that companies involved in real money gaming, cryptocurrency, tobacco, and alcohol would be excluded from the process.

Apollo Tyres, a multinational company headquartered in Gurugram, India, has been selected for this coveted role. The tyre manufacturer has production facilities not only in India but also abroad, including in Europe.
