Who are 'Loud Labourers? How can they hamper a work environment?

Who are 'Loud Labourers? How can they hamper a work environment?

Do you keep working hard but someone else takes all your applause? Yup, we know this is disappointing, and is nothing new in the work culture. Rather, we just got a new term for it — "Loud Labourers".

It is well said that "self-praise is no recommendation." However, loud labourers love chanting about their work rather than doing the actual work. Their main focus is always to pitch ideas during meetings so that they get noticed easily, but getting the actual work done is an afterthought.

Due to the pandemic, work from home had been more prevalent and face-to-face conversations with managers were minimal; when many employees found it difficult to get recognition. In these times, the ones creating a brouhaha only manage to gain all the brownie points.

A recent study claims that over-bragging or grunting about work lowers the confidence of the entire team. A 'pat oneself on the back' can sometimes backfire. So, it’s better to mellow down your self-praise mode and lend some extra hands to the ones who need it.

Also watch: Say bye to great resignation; shake hands with quiet quitting!
