Ahead of Independence day India's first outdoor museum opens in Delhi; know ticket prices, timings

With Independence Day approaching, it is the best time to look back and relive the struggles of the heroes of our nations who valiantly battled for the liberties we enjoy today without second thought. In honouring the spirit of this struggle for independence and the pivotal figures who actively contributed, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has inaugurated the nation's inaugural open-air museum, known as Shaheedi Park. It is located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in Delhi.

This remarkable establishment stands as a homage to the stalwart champions of India's past. Comprehensive information regarding this site is presented below, offering valuable insights for potential visitors.

The park was inauguarated by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejroiwal in the presence of many other dignitaries, Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi, Leader of House Mukesh Goel, Deputy Mayor Aaley Muhammad Iqbal, MLA Praveen Kumar, Councillor Sarika Chaudhary and Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi shared photos of the event and some glimpses of the park on the social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter). They captioned one of the posts saying - "The glorious history from ancient to modern times has been beautifully depicted through idols and sculptures made from scrap of 250 tonnes."

Timings and tickets

The park welcomes visitors daily between 8 AM and 6 PM, with potential variations in operating hours on government holidays. Admission to the park is economically priced, with entry rates set at ₹50 per child and ₹100 per adult.

Within the premises, there are convenient food and souvenir stalls offering memorabilia for purchase. Additionally, parking facilities are accessible along the road opposite Kotla Fort. The park boasts an impressive array of approximately 56,000 trees and has been meticulously cultivated at an expenditure of ₹15 crores.

The park is built on the 'waste to art' concept, where all the sculptures within its grounds are crafted using upcycled waste materials. Spanning over 4.5 acres, this open-air museum serves as a leisure area suitable for both adults and children.
