TikTok trend claims lettuce water may help you fall asleep easily; know what science has to say

People make numerous claims on videos. And, now a claim about lettuce water is doing rounds on TikTok. This trend is garnering massive attention online. It claims that drinking lettuce water may help a person fall asleep faster

A TikTok user Shapla Hoque with TikTok handle @shapla_11 shared the video where she said that 'drinking lettuce water makes you sleepy'

In the video, she is seen using lettuce leaves and placing them in a cup. After this, she pours boiling water and adds mint to it. Then, she is seen removing the lettuce leaves and drinking it.

After having this drink, she said that she is feeling sleepy. However, science has not backed up this claim. Experts said that the chances of lettuce water helping to sleep is the least unless one is a rat.

Marie-Pierre St-Onge, an associate professor of nutritional medicine and director of the Sleep Center at Columbia University's Irving Medical Center, explained to Insider that there is currently no scientific evidence supporting the notion that lettuce water can effectively promote sleep.
