A recent study found that 22 per cent of children and adolescents show disordered eating behaviour. Know more about it. 

A recent study conducted by the medical journal JAMA Pediatrics found that more than 1 in 5 kids and adolescents show symptoms of disordered eating.

Researchers gathered the data for meta-analysis and reviewed 32 studies from 16 countries and found that 22 per cent of children and adolescents show disordered eating behaviour. The final results showed higher numbers in girls, older children and those with higher body mass index (BMI).

However, disordered eating can be in various forms like dieting, weight fluctuation and feeling of guilt associated with eating.
The meta-analysis’s authors also declared that eating disorders are among the most life-threatening psychiatric problems, and people with these conditions might face premature death.
