Pomegranate painted with nail polish? YouTuber Samdish Bhatia shares story of 'burnt tongue'

In a high-profile allegation of food adulteration, YouTuber Samdish Bhatia, who is the founder of Unfiltered by Samdish, shared a post featuring a pomegranate which he ordered from Swiggy Instamart. Samdish said that as soon as he ate a spoonful of the fruit, he could smell and taste nail polish.

He added that despite spitting all of it out, he suffered from a burnt tongue.

Several internet users reacted to the claim with shock and disbelief.

Pomegranates are known for their rich red colour, but unscrupulous sellers may use artificial colouring agents to enhance the appearance of the fruit, making it look fresher and more appealing.

Adulteration refers to the act of adding inferior or improper substances to a product, often to deceive consumers or to reduce production costs for the manufacturer. This can happen in various industries, including food, beverages, and pharmaceuticals.
