Green tea vs black coffee: Know which one is healthier for you

One significant contrast between green tea and black coffee lies in their levels of caffeine.

Green tea vs black coffee: Know which one is healthier for you

Both green tea and black coffee are one of the most popular beverages. But when pitted against each other, which one has the upper hand in terms of health benefits? Let's find out.

Green tea, derived from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, is rich in catechins, a potent type of antioxidant. Alongside its positive effects on glucose metabolism, green tea has been associated with enhanced heart health, weight management, and cognitive function. The combination of caffeine and L-theanine in green tea can bolster brain function and mood. It is hydrating and can contribute to daily fluid intake without the diuretic effect sometimes seen with coffee.

On the other hand, black coffee, brewed from roasted coffee beans, is primarily known for its caffeine content, renowned for enhancing alertness and reducing fatigue. Regular consumption of black coffee has been linked to a decreased risk of certain neurological disorders and liver conditions. Some studies also suggest that caffeine may aid in weight management by boosting metabolism and suppressing appetite.

It's not necessarily a matter of choosing one over the other. It's crucial to note that excessive consumption of either can have adverse effects. The choice ultimately depends on individual circumstances and preferences.
