      What is Restless Legs Syndrome?

      Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), also known as Willis-Ekbom disease, is a neurological disorder characterized by an uncontrollable urge to move the legs, often accompanied by uncomfortable sensations in the legs. These sensations are typically described as creeping, crawling, tingling, or itching, and they tend to worsen during periods of rest or inactivity, such as when sitting or lying down. Moving the legs temporarily relieves these sensations, but they often return once movement stops.

      RLS can cause difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, leading to sleep disturbances and daytime fatigue. The exact cause of RLS is not fully understood, but it is believed to involve a combination of genetic, environmental, and neurological factors.

      What causes Restless Legs Syndrome?

      The exact cause of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is not fully understood, but researchers believe it involves a combination of genetic, environmental, and neurological factors.

      According to some studies RLS may be associated with deficiencies of vitamins B, C, D, and E. Lifestyle factors such as stress, lack of physical activity, and excessive caffeine or alcohol consumption may also exacerbate RLS symptoms.

      With proper lifestyle and diet fulfilling the vitamin needs this syndrome can be reduced over time.
