Actor Sushmita Sen undergoes angioplasty; know why there's a surge in heart attacks

Actor Sushmita Sen recently suffered a heart attack. She shared a post on Instagram about the same where the actor revealed that she has undergone angioplasty and is doing fine now.

However, the news of her heart attack has sent shockwaves and fans are wishing for her good health. This has come at a time when there is a sudden surge in heart attacks.

But, the question is, why have the cases of heart attacks been increasing in the recent past?

According to a 2019 report by Harvard Health, 80% of heart attacks take place due to blockages in coronary arteries.

Other than this, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC) said that the high rates of obesity and high blood pressure are the reasons why the incidence of heart disease in people as young as 35-40 years is so common these days. Moreover, unhealthy lifestyle choices are also accountable for the majority of heart disease cases.
