What causes dehydration, a common health issue during summers

Dehydration is a common health issue during this scorching heat and some foods and drinks reduce water absorption in the body causing dehydration. Therefore, it's better to avoid eating salty snacks, processed meats, caffeinated drinks, alcoholic beverages, fried foods, sugary snacks, pickles, fermented foods, baked goods, and spicy foods. During summer everyone should be more cautious about what they eat and drink to stay healthy.

Foods you should avoid in this season

Salty Snacks: Foods like potato chips and pretzels can lead to dehydration due to their high sodium content.

Processed Meats: Sausages and deli meats contain preservatives and sodium, which can reduce water retention.

Caffeinated Drinks: Coffee and energy drinks act as diuretics, increasing fluid loss and risk of dehydration.

Alcoholic Beverages: Alcohol dehydrates the body by increasing urine production.

Fried Foods: French fries and fried chicken are heavy and difficult to digest, raising body temperature.

Sugary Snacks: Candy and pastries cause spikes in blood sugar, leading to increased thirst and dehydration.

Pickles and Fermented Foods: These are high in sodium and can cause the body to lose water.

Bread: Breads, especially white bread, are low in water content and can leave you feeling thirsty.

Spicy Foods: Spicy dishes raise body temperature and increase perspiration, leading to fluid loss.
