New Movement Decoded - Know all about 'Sober Curious'

'This is the last time I am drinking', 'I am never going to drink again' are the things that we utter the most while we deal with hangovers but what if we suggest that you can join a movement and actually do it? After skin fasting, another trend 'sober curious' is in the limelight right now.

What does it mean?

To be 'sober curious' means to take a break from consuming alcohol for sometime. It doesn't mean that you have to entirely give it; you can have it when you feel like it but the consumption should be less so that it does not affect your health or in general your day.

It also involves curiosity about the reasons that make you think about drinking and the way alcohol affects your life.

How did sober curiousness come into existence?

Sober curious is nothing new! It has been there by the names 'Sober October' and 'Dry January', where people practised giving up alcohol for a month and re-evaluated their alcohol use.

What are the benefits of sober curiousness?

According to a 2018 study, if a person abstains from alcohol for a month this may help lower blood pressure and the risk of alcohol-related diseases. Other than this, those who give up drinking for a month also report better sleep, increased energy and weight loss.

However, just like your flings, movements may come and go. It's only your willpower that's going to stay forever to help you be 'sober curious'.

Also Watch: Not just alcohol, THIS everyday drink can damage your liver too
