National Fudge Day is observed on June 16 and this day is celebrated to mark the existence of fudges in the world. Well, this sweet delicacy is surely world-famous. However, people aren't much aware of a tiny island which is known as the fudge capital of the world.

Mackinac is a tiny island in the US and it is popular for cranking out fudge. This island has an area of 3.8 square miles and there are 7 fudge shops on this island.

Several fudge fans visit this island but there are no cars allowed on this island. But that does not stop visitors from coming to this place, they travel on rented bicycles and commute with the help of horses on this tiny island.

It is also mentioned on Mackinac Island's website that every week during the peak fudge season, more than 10 tons of sugar are imported to this island. And, around $200,000 worth of fudge is produced here every day.

Notably, the origin of fudge dates back to the 19th century in the USA. At that time, it was popular in women's colleges and the making of it was considered a fun time activity. Later, it garnered massive popularity and the recipe of this dessert was published in periodicals and most people tried their hands on this recipe.
