Kaji Nemu: Assam government declares this as the state fruit, know its health benefits

The Assam Government has declared' Kaji Nemu' as the state fruit. Assam's Agriculture Minister, Atul Bora announced this news on X. Kaji Nemu also received the GI tag in 2016 and has been commercially grown in the state.

Sharing the news, Atul Bora wrote "Delighted to share that Assam's Kaji Nemu (Citrus Limon), known for its unique aroma and flavor, has been declared as the "State Fruit" by the Cabinet. Grateful to Hon'ble CM Dr. @himantabiswa
for this visionary move. Excited about the prospects this initiative holds for our farmers and the agricultural sector."

Assam's CM also wrote on X

Informing about the same, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma also wrote on X - "Our Government has decided to declare Kaji Nemu (Citrus Lemon) as the State Fruit of Assam. With its unique aroma & antioxidant properties, Assam lemon has enriched our local cuisines. With today’s announcement, it is set to shine on the global fruit map, boosting self-dependency & production."
