Ed Sheeran reveals he tried Japanese dish 'fish sperm' on The Great Indian Kapil Show. Know all about it

Netflix's new show featuring comedian Kapil Sharma, The Great Indian Kapil Show has hosted many celebrities including international singing sensation Ed Sheeran. On the show, Ed revealed many tidbits from his life, including meeting Shah Rukh Khan and trying a weird Japanese dish, 'fish sperm'. Read on to know more!

Ed Sheeran reveals he tried 'fish sperm' a Japanese cuisine

Speaking on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Ed revealed, “Fish Sperm. Basically in Japan, they have this. When you go to a sushi or omakase restaurant, it's basically, like, the chef makes stuff and he puts it down, and it will be like Nilgiri, or other little things. And usually I think it's called Shirako. And it's basically a testicle that you eat and it explodes in your mouth. Some people love it. I'm not a big fan of it.”

Shirako is the milt or the sperm sacs of male cod. In Japan, it is served both raw and cooked and is a favourite among many locals. The word “shirako” means “white children,” and it is in season in the winter. It’s also called kiku and tachi.

The harvested sperm sacs are tube-like in shape, usually white or light pink in colour. Shirako is believed to be good for the skin and has anti-ageing properties, with high levels of protein, and vitamins B12 and D.

Ed Sheeran had a super fun time in India. The singer visited India to perform in Mumbai as part of his concert +-=/x tour.
