Recently we spotted Nita Ambani wearing a traditional Maharashtrian Paithani saree designed by Manish Malhotra. Here are some more deets about her look.

Nita Ambani looks gorgeous in Paithani saree

Manish Malhotra took to Instagram and shared Nita Ambani's look in a Jamuni Paithani saree. The piece featured a Paithani border, golden threads and floral motifs inspired by the Ajanta cave paintings. Nita wore the purple saree with a handwoven Banarasi chevron blouse.

Sharing deets about the saree, Manish wrote, "The beautiful and ever graceful Mrs.Nita Ambani graces our custom-made Jamuni Paithani saree, designed especially for her. This exquisite piece features a Paithani border from Swadesh, perfectly blending regal tradition with unparalleled craftsmanship. Originating from the historic town of Paithan in Marathwada, this silk masterpiece represents the rich cultural heritage of Maharashtra. Paired beautifully with a handwoven Banarasi chevron blouse, the ensemble is a tribute to the art of weaving and the legacy it carries."

What is a Paithani saree?

A Paithani saree is a Maharashtrian bride's favourite. It originated in the town of Paithan near Aurangabad. Named after the town, the sari is believed to have been originally made with the finest silk threads from China and pure zari, that was made locally.

To craft a genuine Paithani sari, approximately 500 grams of silk threads and 250 grams of zari threads are used for a standard six-yard piece. The creation of a Paithani sari can take anything between six months to two years, depending on the intricacy of the design.
