Kantha to Zardozi: how Dior showcased Indian embroidery at pre-fall show

The Dior pre-fall show took place at Mumbai's Gateway of India and the location had a symbolic meaning. For the uninitiated, in 1948, the last British troops left the country from Gateway of India and it was the same year when Dior presented its first-ever couture collection.

For the recent pre-fall collection, Dior collaborated with Chanakya International to pay tribute to Indian art and culture. The pre-fall collection was made with intensive-embroidery techniques.

The design on the attires had Kantha patchwork, zari was used for making brocades. Moreover. micro-beading was done on pyjama-style pants.

Several celebrities were in attendance for the show including Maisie Williams, Rekha, Sonam Kapoor, and Freida Pinto, among others.
