Method dressing is gaining popularity in the film industry as celebrities opt to embody their movie characters during official ceremonies or film promotions outside the set to promote their films.

From Barbie to Rockyy Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, actors dress in attire inspired by their respective movie roles. Margot Robbie embraced Barbiecore fashion during the release of the movie Barbie, while Zendaya opted for tennis core during her Challengers promotions and Janhvi also embraced method dressing during Mr.&Mrs Mahi promotions in a red leather dress with cricket balls attached to it.

What is method dressing?

Method dressing is a term used to describe an approach to dressing where the clothing and accessories worn reflect a character or persona, often associated with a specific role in a movie, play, or other performance.

This term is derived from "method acting," a technique used by actors to fully immerse themselves in a character's emotions and experiences. In method dressing, individuals may adopt the style, clothing, and mannerisms of a particular character or persona in their everyday life, blurring the lines between fiction and reality.

This approach to dressing can be seen as a form of self-expression and exploration of identity.

While its name is reminiscent of method acting, a naturalistic acting technique also known as the Stanislavski’s system that encourages actors to dive deeply into their roles, method dressing is closer to performance art.
