Beer benefits for hair and skin : When we hear of beer all we can think about is summer evenings, chilled drinks and good company but what if we tell you it has more to offer.

Though beer is the third most consumed drink after water and tea, it has several skin and hair benefits too.

According to a study conducted in London in 2000, drinking darker beers helps to improve the quality of skin as they are filled with antioxidants and that makes it a beauty potion.

Beginning with skin benefits, beer helps to fight premature ageing, keeps the skin clean and prevents infections. Apart from antioxidants, polyphenols and melanoidin are also present in different types of beers and that work as anti-ageing agents.

How to use beer for skin?

You can make a skin mask. Add 1 tablespoon of beer to the egg white and mix it with 3-4 drops of almond oil. Mix it well. Now, apply the mask to your face and neck and once it is dry, wash it with lukewarm water. In the next step, pat your skin dry and moisturise it well.

Talking about hair, de-carbonated beers are used as conditioners to repair damaged hair and gives volume to hair. It is said that beer is beneficial for hair as it has two proteins called hop and malt, which help to repair damaged hair cuticles and strengthen hair follicles. However, there is no scientific evidence to back this claim.

How to use beer for hair?

For this, you need to leave the beer open for around 10 hours and if you are in rush, then you can pour beer into a container and microwave it.

You can now take flat beer and apply it to your scalp and use it from the roots to the tips. Now, massage it well for 5 minutes and then wash your hair with plain water. Use this method once in a month, if used more often, it can dry out skin and hair because of the alcohol content.
