World Environment Day 2022: Follow the 3R’s to do your bit for the environment

World Environment Day is observed on June 5 every year. This day is celebrated to promote awareness about the urgent need to protect and conserve the environment. It also throws light on how various practices such as the use of plastic, illegal wildlife trade, pollution, global warming, etc are harmful for the environment.

The campaign slogan for this year is ‘Only One Earth’ and it focuses on ‘Living sustainably in harmony with nature’. So, do your bit for the environment by following the 3R’s- Recycle, Reduce and Reuse.

Recycle

Instead of throwing away any unused items, recycle them as new products. This can include plastic, paper, glass, cardboard items, etc. This will help significantly in reducing the generation of waste.

Reduce

The making of new products involves a variety of materials and leads to waste generation and pollution. Turn off the lights when not in use and reduce the use of items that are made with non-biodegradable materials such as plastic.
